The way I love you

I keep looking at the lines of a leaf
and remember how it is nearly impossible
to look into your eyes, but somehow
I manage to catch a glimpse
for a few seconds
but in that time,
I catch every vein of your eyes
and click a picture of it.
then the leaves, stars, maps,
ants moving in a line
everything reminds me of you.

I love silently
when you look at the flowers
and stop a while to smell them
I gaze at you from a distance
and blush by myself
and every time
an Indian dance number plays,
I imagine us dancing
in my best friend’s wedding
and remember your insane
obsession with Bollywood.

Posting long paragraphs on your birthdays
showering you with extravagance
declaring our love to the world
that’s not how I love,
but I’ll love you through poems
that has ideas of forever engraved.

I’ll love you through music
make a playlist for you
filled with ‘secret’ songs
I listen to in solitude.

Saying I love you 10 times a day
is not how I love.
it takes the essence away
so i’ll write letters instead
in pages and sometimes
a tissue paper
and on a random day
when you come home tired,
I’ll gift you a box
stuffed with your favorite things
and some dandelions on top of it

and somedays when you rant
about everything to me
I’ll play with your hair
and gently let my fingers
dance with yours

The way I love you is different,
because you don’t deserve the Ordinary
Or the ‘Normal’
but something that solely
comes out of the soul
and I’m more than blessed
to give you mine
